McDonald's to launch special Olympics menus in Japan
February 2, 2006McDonald's Co. (Japan) said Thursday it will launch three Olympics-related Italian menus at its outlets nationwide during a one-month campaign starting Feb. 10. Celebrating the Winter Olympics taking place in Turin, Italy, the Japanese unit of the world's largest fast-food chain operator will sell tomato-stewed chicken hamburgers, bite-sized cheesy-potato balls, and espresso-flavored shakes. The special foods will be available until March 9, the company said.
Golf: Miyazato 24th after 1st round of ANZ Ladies in Australia
February 2, 2006Japan's Ai Miyazato shot a 1-under-par 71 in the first round of the ANZ Ladies Masters on Thursday in her first appearance in an individual tournament this year. Miyazato made four birdies against three bogeys to finish the day tied for 24th place at Royal Pines Resort, four strokes adrift of joint leaders Mhairi McKay of Scotland and Italian Diana Luna.
Tennis: Sharapova cruises at Toray, Hingis through

Sharapova, currently ranked No. 4 in the world, rallied from 3-1 and 4-2 deficits in the first set before overwhelming her 93rd-ranked opponent with her unwieldy serves and pinpoint returns in a second-round match at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium.
