Tennis: Soeda, Motomura named to Davis Cup team for China clash
January 31, 2006Go Soeda and Goichi Motomura have been named to Japan's Davis Cup team for an Asia/Oceania zone Group 1 first-round match against China next month, the Japan Tennis Association said Tuesday. Satoshi Iwabuchi and Toshihide Matsui will also play at the Feb. 2-10 event at Namihaya Dome in Osaka with Takao Suzuki missing out due to a shoulder injury.
Soccer: Ono called up to Japan squad
January 31, 2006Midfielder Shinji Ono, who has just returned to J-League first-division club Urawa Reds from Dutch side Feyenoord, will join the Japan national team training camp being held in Miyazaki, the Japan Football Association said Tuesday. Injury-plagued Ono, who will return to the national squad for the first time since injuring a toe during a mini-tour of eastern Europe last October, is expected to join up with his teammates for training on Wednesday.
