Ski jumping: Okabe comes 3rd, Norwegians steal show
January 21, 2006Japan's Takanobu Okabe had to settle for third place Saturday after Norwegians Bjoern Einar Romoeren and Roar Ljoekelsoey surged from behind to claim a 1-2 finish at the World Cup Sapporo ski jumping meet. Okabe made a leap of 133 meters in the first round but faltered on his next attempt with a jump of 121.5 meters at the K-120 Okurayama hill in Sapporo, still earning him his first podium finish in eight years with 256.6 points.
