Baseball: Taiwan to host Asian qualifiers for Beijing Olympics
December 28, 2005Taiwan will host the Asian qualifying tournament for the baseball competition at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing as planned, Japanese baseball officials said Wednesday. Taiwanese baseball officials have notified Japan Amateur Baseball Association president Masatake Matsuda of the decision to host the qualifiers in 2007, although Japan had asked for the possibility of obtaining the hosting right.

December 28, 2005Japan midfielder Shinji Ono is considering a move to Bolton Wanderers from Feyenoord, a Dutch newspaper reported Tuesday. According to national daily De Telegraaf, Ono, who is being chased by Urawa Reds, will visit the English premier league club of Japan teammate Hidetoshi Nakata with his agent during the Dutch league's winter break.
