Hitachi sets new targets for cutting greenhouse gas emissions
March 14, 2006Hitachi Ltd. on Monday announced plans to cut carbon dioxide emissions during its production process by 910,000 tons to 7 million tons from the end of March 2005 to the end of 2016 and to slash greenhouse gases emitted through use of its products by 7 million tons during the same period. The major electronics maker will use more liquefied natural gas as opposed to heavy oil and reduce the power consumption of its products as well as the energy required to recycle them.
