Gene in ATL-causing virus promotes spread of ATL: research

A Kyoto University research group has said a gene in a virus said to cause adult T-cell leukemia (ATL) is responsible for promoting the proliferation of ATL. The group, led by Masao Matsuoka, a blood cancer professor at the university's Institute for Virus Research, released the finding in an article the U.S. National Academy of Sciences published online.
