Japan to offer 25 mil. yen in relief goods over Philippines landslide

The relief goods include tents, blankets, plastic sheets, sleeping mats, plastic tanks, water purifiers and electricity generators, it said in a statement.
Pakistan test-fires nuclear capable short-range missile
February 19, 2006Pakistan on Sunday successfully test-fired an indigenously developed short-range nuclear capable missile, the Defense Ministry said. The Hatf-2 Abdali surface-to-surface missile has a range of 200 kilometers, the ministry said. It was launched from an unspecified location.
Japan, U.S. begin joint defense exercises in western Japan
February 19, 2006The Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force and the U.S. Marine Corps began joint exercises Sunday at the GSDF training field in Takashima, Shiga Prefecture. The two forces are scheduled to conduct joint drills until March 3, with some exercises planned at the GSDF training field in Nagi, Okayama Prefecture.
