Most residents of defective buildings not moving into public housing

The infrastructure ministry said Friday that 187 out of 288 households living in 10 condominiums whose quake-resistance data were falsified were still living in the defective buildings as of Thursday. Among the 101 households that have left the condos, only 12 have moved into public housing prepared by municipal governments for cases of evacuation, according to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

Another building with false quake-resistance data found

The infrastructure ministry said Friday it has found another hotel whose quake-resistance data were falsified by disgraced architect Hidetsugu Aneha, bringing the total number of such buildings to 89 in 18 prefectures. The Sun Hotel Kokubu is in the city of Kirishima, Kagoshima Prefecture, and is the first building in the prefecture whose quake-resistance data have been confirmed to be falsified, according to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
