Hiroshima girl's alleged murderer indicted
December 21, 2005Prosecutors on Wednesday indicted Jose Manuel Torres Yake, a 33-year-old Peruvian man, over the murder of a 7-year-old girl in the city of Hiroshima last month. Torres Yake, arrested Nov. 30, was charged for her murder, molestation resulting in her death and abandonment of her body.
Huser suspected of delivering condos knowing they were defective
December 21, 2005Huser Ltd., one of the developers of condominiums found to have substandard quake resistance, concluded sales contracts and handed over units from Oct. 25 to 29, almost the same time when it was notified of falsification of quake-resistance data, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said Wednesday. Huser signed sales contracts on two condominium units in Funabashi, Chiba Prefecture, on Oct. 25 and 29, respectively, and a third one on a unit in Fujisawa, Kanagawa Prefecture, on Oct. 26.
Blood of murdered Hiroshima girl found in suspect's apartment
December 21, 2005Police said Wednesday bloodstains found in the apartment of a murder suspect in Hiroshima City match the DNA of the seven-year-old girl killed in the city last month. The suspect, Jose Manuel Torres Yake, a 33-year-old Peruvian, has told the police that he killed the girl outside the apartment but that he did not let her inside, according to the police. The police said they have also found hair of the girl in the apartment.
U.S. has no doubts about N. Korea counterfeiting dollars: Hill
December 21, 2005The U.S. chief delegate to the six-party talks on North Korea's nuclear weapons programs said Tuesday he and other foreign diplomats, including those from South Korea, have accepted evidence that North Korea is counterfeiting American $100 bills, according to Yonhap News Agency. ''I saw them (fake $100 notes) the other day,'' Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Hill told a group of South Korean reporters in Washington.
