Nintendo puts off sales of 2 new game console models

Nintendo Co. said Friday it will start selling in Japan two of its three new models of the portable home game console DS Lite on March 11, instead of March 2 as initially planned, due to an ''unexpected trouble in the process of manufacturing.'' Nintendo earlier planned to put on the market the three models of ice blue, enamel navy and crystal white colors simultaneously on March 2.

Court nixes appeal of Livedoor's Kumagai against his detention

The Tokyo District Court on Friday rejected an appeal by former Livedoor Co. Representative Director Fumito Kumagai against its decision authorizing his 10-day detention following his arrest earlier this week over alleged securities law violations, a court official said. The appeal was filed by Kumagai's lawyer earlier in the day.

Horie will not return to Livedoor: Hiramatsu

Livedoor Co. President Kozo Hiramatsu on Friday said Takafumi Horie, the founder of the Internet firm who has been arrested over alleged securities law violations, will not be able to come back to the company, no matter the outcome of his trial. ''Horie will not return to this company irrespective of the judicial authorities' decision in the future,'' said Hiramatsu, who replaced Horie as president of the embattled Internet firm last month.
