Private think tanks foresee 2.5% GDP growth in FY 2006

The Japanese economy, as measured by gross domestic product, is forecast to grow 2.5 percent in real terms in fiscal 2006, extending its brisk annualized expansion of 5.5 percent in the October-December period of last year, according to estimates released by nine major private think tanks by Wednesday. The average growth forecast is higher than the government's projection of 1.9 percent.
