E-mails show Okamoto ordered accounting fraud with Horie's consent

January 29, 2006

E-mails sent by former Livedoor Co. Director Fumito Okamoto show he consulted with former President Horie Takafumi before ordering Livedoor group senior employees to commit accounting fraud by saying he was ''99.9 percent'' sure the fraud would not come to light. The e-mails -- three mails written by Okamoto and another by a Livedoor Co. senior employee -- were sent between Dec. 29, 2003 and Nov. 6, 2004, and Kyodo News obtained their copies.
