Japan car industry chief not worried about impact of GM loss

The head of Japan's car manufacturing industry dismissed concerns Friday that General Motors Corp.'s massive red ink may be blamed on brisk U.S. sales by Japanese automakers. ''We hope that GM turns around its business by making progress on its restructuring program,'' Itaru Koeda, chairman of the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, said at a news conference.

Livedoor Co. and Fuji Television Network Inc. held executive-level talks Friday for the first time since prosecutors raided Livedoor offices on Jan. 16 over alleged securities exchange law violations. Kozo Hiramatsu, who replaced Takafumi Horie as Livedoor president Tuesday, visited the head office of Fuji TV and met with the broadcaster's chairman Hisashi Hieda, company officials said.

Top executives of Livedoor Co. and Fuji Television Network Inc., the second largest stockholder at Livedoor, met Friday for the first time after prosecutors raided the Internet services company on Jan. 16 and later arrested its top officers over alleged securities exchange law violations.
