Taiwan reopens market to U.S. beef despite mad cow disease fears

Taiwan's government partially lifted a ban on beef imports from the United States on Wednesday despite widespread concerns about possible introduction of mad cow disease. The move comes after Japan last Friday reinstated its own ban on U.S. beef imports due to the discovery of bovine spine, which is banned in Japan due to the risk of mad cow disease, in a shipment of U.S. beef.
