University of Tokyo, other top universities form research alliance

Indonesia's confirmed human bird flu death toll rises to 12
January 14, 2006Indonesia said Saturday the number of confirmed human deaths in the country from bird flu has risen to 12. A Hong Kong laboratory affiliated with the World Health Organization confirmed that a 29-year-old woman who died this week in a Jakarta hospital was killed by the H5N1 strain of the virus, the Health Ministry said.
