Fuji TV hints at dissolving capital tie-up with Livedoor

Livedoor execs apparently grilled over alleged financial scam
January 20, 2006Japanese prosecutors apparently questioned Livedoor Co. executives Friday on suspicion of spreading false financial information to deceive investors, investigative sources said. This is the first time prosecutors have questioned Livedoor executives, who include Chief Financial Officer Ryoji Miyauchi and Director Fumito Kumagai, since they raided the head office of the fast-growing Internet firm Monday over alleged securities exchange law violations.
TSE sees 6.56 mil. trading orders, 3.35 mil. deals Fri.
January 20, 2006The Tokyo Stock Exchange saw an estimated 6.56 million trading orders placed Friday, with the number of deals agreed on coming to 3.35 million during the day, the bourse said. Prosecutors to question Livedoor's Miyauchi, Kumagai later Friday
January 20, 2006Prosecutors plan to question Livedoor Co.'s Chief Financial Officer Ryoji Miyauchi, Director Fumito Kumagai and other executives later Friday over the ongoing scandal involving the Internet services company group, investigative sources said Friday. The investigators will question them on a voluntary basis in the latest development of the probe into whether Livedoor misled the stock market in 2004 over one of its many merger-and-acquisition deals in order to boost the share price of an advertising subsidiary, Livedoor Marketing Co., then known as ValueClick Japan Inc.
Japan's parliament convenes for regular session
January 20, 2006Japan's parliament convened Friday for a regular session with a focus on Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi's plans for the next administration to carry on his reform agenda, and also on the recent securities and buildings safety scandals. At the start of the 150-day regular session through June 18, Koizumi pledged to continue his structural reform drive in the administrative area while showing the government's readiness to submit a bill to revise the Imperial House Law to pave the way for female monarchs in Japan.
